Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has beaten his teammate at each of the last five grands prix.
Lando Norris edged out team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the points lead from his teammate by one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, outpaced the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the championship fight, trailing with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, finished in 17th place as his Red Bull team opted for a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he spun at Turn Four during the early running.
The Japanese slid over the track edges before sliding over the escape zone, and was lucky to get away with just a minor contact of the barrier.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the conclusion of the practice, spinning around through the quick descending corner before the final bend on to the main straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's car P3, over half a second slower than Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
