19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden title for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult year, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - resulted in him falling of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently working with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents his initial championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt after spring of that year.

Success also means he has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct events.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is particularly special," said tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and regular reactions on court had led some to question if his ability to perform at the top level was finished.

Yet the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and play aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the last five points to take the lead.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his maiden tour title, gained dominance to push for a decider.

The opponent rescued 4 initial chances in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner secured the title with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
